The General Board of the Italian Society for Horticultural Science (SOI) has renewed its confidence in Professor Antonio Ferrante, faculty member of the Institute of Crop Science at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, who has been reconfirmed as General President for a new three-year term.

This re-election represents a significant acknowledgment of Professor Ferrante’s prominent role in the national and international scientific landscape, and it confirms the value of his academic and institutional activity, while also bringing prestige to the entire community of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.

Commenting on his reappointment, Professor Ferrante stated:
“I am honored to represent and lead the Italian Society for Horticultural Science for another three years. It will be a demanding term, as we will be engaged in organizing the ISHS World Congress. I would like to thank the board members and all the Society’s members for their trust, which I will reciprocate with my utmost commitment to representing the Society both nationally and internationally.”

Founded in 1953, SOI is the most important Italian scientific society dedicated to horticultural science. Its mission is to foster the development and dissemination of research and innovation by promoting scientific and technical cooperation among academia, entrepreneurs, and professionals in the sector. SOI’s activities cover a wide range of agricultural fields: from fruit and timber tree crops to vegetable crops, from floriculture and ornamental plants to nurseries, as well as turfgrass management, landscaping, and the protection of green spaces.

The reconfirmation of Professor Ferrante as President of SOI therefore represents not only a personal achievement but also an opportunity to further strengthen the ties between the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and one of the most influential scientific institutions in the agricultural sector.
